agraffe (or agrafe)
A metal clip used to secure the cork in a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine during secondary fermentation.
According to Oxford, this word also describes the hook-and-ring clothing fasteners used on (mainly historical) uniforms and clothing, and once referred to anything "resembling an agraffe in form or function."
In French, an agraffe is a staple (and an agraffeuse is a stapler).

There's a Word for That will be a recurring feature. I'm hoping we can collectively improve our ability to identify the thing. You know, the thing. The thing that's always with that other thing
If you know the word for a thing, make a post! (If you're looking for the word for the thing, message your suggestion/question and I'll do my best to find it.)
